Congratulations to ADSA 2021 Award Recipients!

    The 2021 annual American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) meeting took place virtually last week and the White Lab was well represented! Multiple abstracts were presented, and awards were received by two current lab members and an alumnus!

    Gaelan Combs is an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Heather White’s lab. Gaelan competed in the undergraduate abstract presentation (ADSA-SAD competition) and received first place for his abstract titled “Evaluation of the use of intervaginal temperature monitors to assess postprandial body temperature changes.”

    Dr. Billy Brown, Dr. White’s post-doc, received the Young Scholars Award for his presentation titled “Effects of rumen-protected methionine supply and body condition prepartum on antioxidant,inflammation, and mechanistic target of rapamycin pathways in adipose tissue during the periparturient period.” This award can only be earned within 12 months of completion of a PhD program and is used as a way to recognize accomplishments.

    Dr. Ryan Pralle, recent White Lab alumnus, received the Young Scholars Award for his presentation titled “Evaluation of alpha-1-acid gycoprotein as a marker of transition cow health, metabolism, and feed intake: A potential diagnostic tool?” This award can only be earned within 12 months of completion of a PhD program and is used as a way to recognize accomplishments.
